Medezer Foundation hosted its first community engagement meeting with senior citizens at the Medezer Student Development Centre in Mon, marking an important step towards developing its proposed Elder Care Programme for Mon District.
The meeting provided an opportunity to listen directly to senior citizens and understand their interests, needs and expectations, particularly around activities that could help them remain active, socially connected and meaningfully engaged as part of a future day-care programme.
The discussion was chaired by Sir Nyamto and Ms Angun, with local pastors facilitating the interaction. The meeting was warm, participatory and well received, with senior citizens actively sharing their perspectives and suggestions.
The insights gathered from this engagement will help Medezer Foundation shape a community-based Elder Care Programme that is relevant to the needs and aspirations of senior citizens in Mon.
This first interaction marks the beginning of what we hope will become a sustained initiative to promote healthy ageing, companionship, dignity and active participation among senior citizens in the community.
