Medezer Foundation’s Diabetic Awareness Camp in Mon — A Step Towards Healthier Communities

In partnership with KNSK, Mon District, Nagaland | October 11, 2025

The Medezer Foundation Trust, Bengaluru, conducted its first community outreach health camp in Mon District, Nagaland, in partnership with KNSK (Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong) on October 11, 2025. Themed “Understanding Diabetes,” the initiative aimed to empower communities with awareness, early detection, and preventive care against the rising challenge of diabetes mellitus.

The camp received strong local participation and was supported by the District Health Administration, with Dr. Supongmenla Walling (Chief Medical Officer, Mon) and Dr. Lilly from the CMO’s office in attendance. Their involvement not only added credibility but also encouraged community engagement and confidence in preventive health measures.

Key activities included:

  • Awareness sessions on causes, symptoms, and prevention of diabetes.
  • Free blood sugar testing and doctor consultations for early detection.
  • Diet and lifestyle guidance tailored to local food habits and community needs.

Representing Team Medezer, Dr. Tribeni Goswami and Ms. Angun Konyak played a pivotal role in conducting glucometer testing and health education sessions. Dr. Tribeni emphasized that early screening and healthy lifestyle habits are crucial in preventing long-term complications.

“Small, consistent steps — like regular screening and mindful eating — can prevent major health complications later. Awareness is the first step toward empowerment.”

For the Medezer Foundation, this initiative marks a significant beginning in engaging with the people of Mon to build resilient, health-conscious communities. The Foundation envisions itself as a catalyst for change, creating platforms where government departments, civil society, and corporate CSR partners can collaborate to strengthen public health outcomes.

By integrating awareness with access, Medezer Foundation seeks to pioneer community-based healthcare models that are sustainable, locally relevant, and impactful. The success of this camp reflects the Foundation’s commitment to preventive care, grassroots engagement, and long-term health equity.

Looking ahead, Medezer Foundation plans to replicate similar initiatives across rural and underserved regions of India, addressing non-communicable diseases and expanding its community health programs through strategic CSR and government partnerships.
