Anna’s Corner: A Beacon of Hope from Mon
In the quiet hills of Mon District, Nagaland — a region often shadowed by socio-economic challenges and limited access to opportunities — a spirited young woman dared to dream differently.
Meet Ms. Angun Wangsa, affectionately known as Anna — a name that now echoes hope, resilience, and inspiration across Medezer Foundation’s work. Coming from a background where support was scarce and pathways uncertain, Anna stands as a powerful symbol of what can emerge when a spark is met with the right opportunity.
Anna’s journey with Medezer began in 2023, when she joined our team in Bangalore to support elderly healthcare services. She wasn’t just another recruit. With deep compassion, unmatched sincerity, and a keen desire to learn, Anna soon began going beyond her assigned duties. She showed initiative in developing course content tailored for aspiring Healthcare Assistants from Mon and other resource-constrained areas of Nagaland — understanding from her own life the critical need for skill-building and guidance.
Her passion and potential became the foundation for something much larger.
In 2024, Medezer Foundation inaugurated the first Student Development Centre (SDC) in Mon Town — an initiative deeply inspired by Anna’s story. The centre is now fondly called “Anna’s Corner”, serving as a safe and empowering space especially for young girls who’ve had to drop out of school or face early life challenges. Here, they receive:
Anna’s Corner is more than a centre. It is a movement. A place where stories are rewritten, confidence is rebuilt, and futures are reimagined.
Today, Anna continues to mentor and inspire others — not as someone who had all the answers, but as someone who chose to rise, reach back, and uplift.
At Medezer Foundation, we believe that every community has its own Anna — waiting to be seen, heard, and supported.
Together, we’re building futures. One story at a time.
